چکیده
Background: Celosia leptostachya belongs to Amaranthaceae plant family. Its leaves are used traditionally in the treatment of conditions, such as convulsion, eye infection and most notably cure snakebites. This study investigated inhibiting effect extract C. against cobra snake venom mice. Methods: We 36 albino mice mixed gender, weighing 20-25 g. They were divided into six groups rats each. Each rat was pre-treated with 0.4 mg/kg venom, subsequently given a graded dose zero, 50, 100, 150, 200, or 250 ethanol leaves. The animals monitored for survival rate. Various inhibition assays performed estimate activities acetyl cholinesterase, protease adenosine triphosphatase presence 100-300 µg extract. Results: inhibited effects significantly after intraperitoneal injection at 20 minutes intervals. results demonstrated that 100% survived if they received 100-250 while only 83.3% 50 mg/kg. venom’s triphosphatase. occurred higher percentages 300 Conclusion: its mediated toxicity.

Cobra Venom-induced Hemolysis
Interest in the alternate or C3 shunt complement pathway has recently been generated by a number of reports (1-5). Its presence in invertebrates points to a primitive phylogenetic appearance (6). The C3 shunt can be triggered by high molecular weight polysaccharides in a manner reminiscent of the properdin system (7). Once activated by cobra venom, erythrocytes and other cells can be lysed in t...
متن کاملCobra Venom in Therapeutics
During the past eight years the senior author has been engaged in testing the pharmacological action and therapeutic properties of Indian snake venoms. Chopra and Chowhan (1932 and 1935) showed that the efficacy of the cobra and other snake venoms in relieving the pain of malignant growths and of neuritis and neuralgias was probably due to the presence of such active principles as neurotoxin. The

The venom proteome of the monocled cobra, Naja kaouthia, from Thailand, was characterized by RP-HPLC, SDS-PAGE, and MALDI-TOF-TOF analyses, yielding 38 different proteins that were either identified or assigned to families. Estimation of relative protein abundances revealed that venom is dominated by three-finger toxins (77.5%; including 24.3% cytotoxins and 53.2% neurotoxins) and phospholipase...
متن کاملCobra Venom Factor and Ketoprofen Abolish the Antitumor Effect of Nerve Growth Factor from Cobra Venom
We showed recently that nerve growth factor (NGF) from cobra venom inhibited the growth of Ehrlich ascites carcinoma (EAC) inoculated subcutaneously in mice. Here, we studied the influence of anti-complementary cobra venom factor (CVF) and the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug ketoprofen on the antitumor NGF effect, as well as on NGF-induced changes in EAC histological patterns, the activity...

The Bridelia ferruginea plant as anti-snake venom activity against the venom of a clinically important snake, Naja nigricollis was investigated. The Bridelia ferruginea leaves were dried and extracted with ethanol and bioactive compounds such as tannins alkaloids, saponnin, flavonoids, steroids, terpenoids were determined by standard method. The effect of the extract on some selected enzymes activi...
